Unusual offices for greater freedom at work
FEAR OF THE OFFICE

Revolutionise office working: Geoffrey Pascal has taken up the challenge by improving the modular nature and comfort of the facilities we use. It’s on this concept that Ergasiophobia (quite literally « fear of the office »!) is based.

feel right at home... but at work
We often find that sitting at a desk all day long is not comfortable at all. When it comes to working remotely, usually from home, it can be hard to concentrate with distractions all around us. If, on top of all this, our place of work makes us feel like doing anything but working because we’re constantly thinking of our aches and pains, the working day could get off to a bad start…
We understand that working at the office requires optimum comfort if we’re to be efficient and productive. You might be surprised to learn that it’s possible to be very competent and creative when you work from the comfort of your bed. In this vein, Frenchman Geoffrey Pascal has dreamed up a range of furniture that allows you to try a variety of different postures that mirror those we adopt in bed…just don’t fall asleep!

no need for an office and fewer backaches
These positions are based on the principles of « Neutral Body Posture » designed by NASA to guarantee the work efficiency of their astronauts through increased comfort and wellbeing. It’s as simple as that! In this way, thanks to these different postures, the weight of the worker and their muscular strain is spread across a range of different supporting points, relieving the lower back, arms and shoulders.
The worker is free to adapt the furniture to suit their own body characteristics, feel more relaxed and also change position whilst maintaining their concentration during work.

the freedom to feel at ease
But Geoffrey Pascal also refers to a state of mind: when looking at a standard office, he noticed the stress and pressure that makes workers far less productive. Nevertheless, staying in bed is not a realistic solution even if it allows us to be more concentrated. This led to a compromise, with unusual desks that make workers feel as relaxed as possible. After all, even if you’re at work, nobody can blame you for wanting to daydream just a little…
Freedom and modular features are also the founding principles of NOMAD Hotels. That’s why we can’t help thinking of our totally modular rooms whenever we hear the word Ergasiophobia! How do you like that?
